A chronic, mulitisystem
autoimmune disease
characterized by exacerbations,
remission, and relapses. B cells
overproduce antibodies and form
antigen-antibody complexes that
get trapped in capillaries causing
ischemia and scarring. Most
commonly affecting MSK,
4-12 times more likely
to occur in women, cutaneous, renal, nervous, and CV
with peak incidence in systems
childbearing ages and
more likely to occur in
women of color.
