1. Type of Consumer Offering
“Offerings are products and services designed to deliver value to customers—either to fulfill
their needs, satisfy their “wants,” or both.” (2015) Door Dash offers food delivery of local
restaurants. Door dash allows you to search and order from restaurants in your area. One feature
Door Dash has is that it lets you track where the food is and how long it is going take to get
your food. If you have the Door Dash App, you can view if your food has been prepared,
picked up and/or delivered. Another feature is that they provide 24-hour customer service and
support. The benefits of using Door Dash would be the convenience of the delivery service.
This allows for the customer to order food when at home and receive it in a timely manner.
“The total cost of your order includes the price of the menu items and tax, an optional tip to the
Dasher, and a delivery fee and service fee depending on the restaurant. In some cases, there
may be an additional fee for orders below a minimum subtotal and for orders when demand is
especially high.” (Door dash customer support, 2021). Door Dash also offers a subscription
service called Dash Pass. The cost of this is $9.99 a month and in exchange removes the
delivery fee for orders over $12. This caters to frequent users. The intangible services of Door
Dash would be the App you can use to make a purchase. On the product/service continuum I
would place the Door Dash as 100 percent services. “A shopping offering is one for which the
consumer will make an effort to compare and select a brand.” (2015). Based off the target
audience the offering would not change because the offering still applies to the new target
audience.
