The Tooth

● Adults have 32 permanent teeth
● The crown is the visible part of the tooth above the gum
● The root is embedded in the gum and jawbone
● Each tooth contains:

Enamel - a hard substance that protects the tooth (hardest
substance in the body ).
Dentine - under enamel, not as hard.
Pulp Cavity - the center of the tooth, contains nerves and blood
vessels which keep the tooth alive.
Cementum - attaches the tooth to the bone and holds it in place.
