From viewing the documentary ‘Color Adjustment,’ Michele Yeoh’s Oscar acceptance speech and class lectures
it can be seen how stereotyping and representation is a dominant issue in electronic media. In the past,
Stereotyping has been used as a short-cut story-telling tool in producing television shows. Nowadays,
stereotyping and representation has moved to the forefront as a controversial issue confronting scriptwriters,
actors, producers and directors.
For this assignment, you are to select and watch a television show (along with its commercials) and identify and
critique it for stereotypes and representation issues. This would include diversity of characters, stereotyping,
representation, actors portrayal, etc). Note these could be POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE, note either. You can
watch a current television show or a classic one from the past. Be sure to end with a Summary of Your
