O2sats done on a well baby at 24 hours of age as part of the cardiac screening. Pulse oximetry
screening is most likely to detect seven of the critical CHDs-cardiac heart defects: hypoplastic
left heart syndrome, pulmonary atresia, tetralogy of Fallot, total anomalous pulmonary venous
return, transposition of the great arteries, tricuspid atresia, and truncus arteriosus
Apply the pulse oximeter on the right hand for a preductal saturation and any of the feet for a
postductal reading.

placenta to the baby and two arteries that bring
