Coloxyl with Senna (indication, action) - Answer INDICATION: constipation

ACTION: faecal softening + stimulant laxative

disease (GORD) + peptic ulcer disease

ACTION: reduces secretion of gastric acid by inhibiting the gastric (H+, K+) ATPase
enzyme in the parietal cells of the stomach

Esomeprazole (common brand name, route, dose) - Answer COMMON BRAND NAME:
Nexium

ROUTE: Oral tablet (usually enteric-coated) or IV

DOSE: 20-40mg daily

Esomeprazole (drug class, nursing consideration) - Answer DRUG CLASS: proton pump
inhibitor (PPI)

NOTE: protons are positive (such as H+ and K+), which it reduces the secretion of
gastric acid by inhibiting these protons via their pumps

cholesterol, LDL & triglyc. & produce small increase in HDL concentrations

Lipitor

ROUTE: Oral tablet

DOSE: 10-80mg once daily

Hypolipidaemic agent
