Personality disorder - an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that
deviates markedly from the expectations of the individual's culture
-this pattern is manifested in two or more of the following areas:
--cognition (ways of perceiving self/others)
--affectivity (emotional responses)
--interpersonal functioning
--impulse control

Psychopathy - antisocial personality construct
Impairments to ways you view and interact with the world
Can’t be diagnosed until after 18

Antisocial personality disorder - primarily defined by behavior
Behaviors imply personality traits
Majority of prisoners have this disorder
Main criteria: a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others
occurring since age 15 (need to be adult)
Need 3 or more of the following:
1) Illegal behavior
2) Deceitfulness
3) Impulsivity
4) Aggressiveness
5) Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
6) Irresponsibility
7) Lack of remorse

Narcissistic personality disorder - main criteria: a pervasive patter of grandiosity (in
fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy beginning by early
adulthood and present in a variety of contexts
Need at least 5 of the following:
1) Grandiose sense of self-importance
2) Preoccupied with fantasies of brilliance
3) Believes "special" and unique
4) Requires excessive admiration
5) Sense of entitlement
6) Interpersonally exploitative
7) Lacks empathy
8) Envious of others
9) Arrogant or haughty behaviors

-could be running companies, have routine and activity to their life
-may have some loving relationships (only if the other is reflecting back on them)
