early emotions

crying:
•crying is the most basic way infants express emotions and
communicate
•at least 3 types of cries
- basic cry: some infancy experts believe that hunger is one of
the conditions that incite the basic cry
- anger cry
- pain cry (colic)
smiles:
•two types of smiling can be distinguished
reflexive/endogenous smile - (having an internal cause or origin)
does not occur in response to external stimuli
- appears during 1st month usually during sleep
