1.1. What is your understanding of curriculum transformation? (2)
Curriculum change or development is a broader concept that relates to altering
content, format, and delivery systems of education to reflect society’s diverse nature.
It is designed to decenter the European way of perceiving the world and engage a
greater diversity of voices, especially those of people who have been historically
oppressed, to forge an equal and socially inclusive educational process. It is
imperative for the training and education of students if they must engage the
dynamically changing world intelligently.
1.2. According to student Marema above, curriculum transformation has to
do with “reformation and decolonization of teaching and learning
system”. Discuss how nursing education could be transformed in an

In Marema’s perspective, curriculum transformation entails reformation and
decolonization of teaching and learning processes. In the case of nursing education
in Africa, this transformation should therefore be directed towards offering a training
curriculum that provides for African societies' health problems, culture, and needs.
One of the ways through which nursing education in Africa can be transformed is
through the inclusion of the indigenous knowledge system. This comprises and
encompasses such as conventional medicine, folk medicine, and culture-based
