PREVIEW

1. Introduction

Xenophobia, the fear or hatred of foreigners, poses a significant challenge to human
rights in South Africa. This phenomenon has manifested in violent attacks against non-
nationals, leading to social unrest and economic instability. Addressing xenophobia
requires a multifaceted approach involving policy implementation, humanitarian aid,
legal frameworks, and public education. This essay discusses various prevention
strategies employed locally to combat xenophobia, including policy, humanitarian,
legal, educational, media-related, and state-civil society partnership strategies, as well
as intergovernmental collaboration.
