1. Concept • Aim – improve student’s literary confidence – in context – sports journalists. • Research focused – research a sporting event – interpreting events, ordering, critiquing data and re-telling the story for others. • Writing challenge – engage in a form of creative writing to re-write the history books or re-tell a story –or even perform it? • Concept of story-telling is an important aspect of socio-cultural research – interpreting data of the lived experience – rendering that interpretation of experience as accessible to others. • A meaningful and relevant task – in HE, for these students in particular, and a significant challenge for mentors to comprehend / stand by their task / assessment request. • Mentoring and the writing process – challenge, confidence, lost, how to judge? – is it any good? • Publish it, share it, invite criticism, create discussion 2. Facilitation •Envisage the assessment request as publishable in a clear(ish) format
