NO RESPONSE - ANS-"Squeeze my fingers or blink your eyes if you can hear me. I'll
pinch the shoulders checking for facial grimace."
"My Pt is unresponsive. I'll continue my assess. based on implied consent."
"Does my Pt show signs of life?"
EXAMINER: Yes
CC - ANS-"My Pts CC and apparent life threats are head neck/spinal injuries,
internal/external bleeding."
A(irway) - ANS-"I'll have my partner open the airway using the jaw thrust method."
Airway isn't clear-
"I'll suction my Pts airway."
Airway is clear-
Airway (OPA/NPA) - ANS-"I'll measure/insert the appropiate size OPA."
Pt doesn't tolerate-
"I'll remove the OPA and measure and insert an NPA."
Pt tolerates-
Move on
B(reathing) - ANS-"I'll expose the Pt's chest looking for any injury that would
compromise breathing/ventilation."
Injury present-
Treat the injury immed.!
