Symptoms of pulmonary edema
-gasping for air
-rapid pulse
-cool and moist skin
-cyanotic lips and nail bed
-anxiety
-dyspnea w/ cough that may produce sputum
Emergency tx for an angina attack
-recognize symptoms
-evaluate symptoms
-position pt semi-upright or upright
-activate CAB
-begin O2
-administer Nitroglycerin (NTG) immediately (0.3-0.6 mg tab every 5
mins)
-call 911 if pain doesn't stop within 2 doses
what to do if a pt is choking but is coughing
DON'T use back blows or Heimlich maneuver since this can further
lodge object
emergency tx for stroke
-recognize signs and symptoms
-discontinue tx and evaluate symptoms
-positions pt comfortably/ loosen clothing
-CAB's
-Provide definitive management as needed
-if BP is elevated put in a semi-Fowler position
-activate EMS
-administer O2
