NEW YORK
Accessibility
Methods of Transport: There are typically 2 different ways how you can travel from the UK
over to New York. The first way is by air. Companies such as Virgin Atlantic are popular for
providing flights over to New York. When flying to New York you can depart from airports
such as London Heathrow (LHR) and then when arriving in New York you will land in John F.
Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
Another way of getting over to New York from the UK is by cruise. Companies such as P&O
Cruises offer multi centre cruises departing from Southampton in the UK and then crossing
the Atlantic over to New York, Rhode Island and Boston. On a cruise you sometimes don’t
get to spend a lot of time in one place.
Availability and Frequency: Below is a table taken from Virgin Atlantic about how often they
have flights from LHR to JFK. As you can see they operate 7 days a week and they have 5
flights running at different parts of the day. As you can see this is the same for return flights
as well.
Travelling Time: The duration of the flight from LHR to JFK is approximately 8 hours,
however this can be shorter if the wind is blowing in the same direction.
