Perifeer zenuwstelsel
• geleiden sensorische en motorische info tussen centraal zenuwstelsel en ret van het lichaam

1) Afferent zenuwstelsel = sensorische info -> centraal zenuwstelsel
Somatische zintuigen - afferent zenuwstelsel = bewuste informatie
• prikkels van de buitenwereld (geluiden, geuren, …)
• lichaamspositie tov de zwaartekracht - evenwichtsysteem
• propriocepsis = positie lichaamsdelen tov van elkaar


Viscerale zintuigen - afferent zenuwstelsel = onwewuste informatie
• prikkels uit je eigen lichaam die onderdeel zijn van inwendige homeostase (bloeddruk, vulling darm, …)


2) Efferent zenuwstelsel = motorische info -> uitvoeringsorganen
Somatisch - efferent zenuwstelsel = bewuste aansturing van willekeurige en onwillekeurige (reflexen) bewegingen


Autonoom - efferent zenuwstelsel = onbewuste aansturing - automatisch
• parasympatisch = lichamelijke en geestelijke rust - rest & digest
• orthosympatisch = acute stress - fight or flight
