, Team working
Working in a team enables individual members and the team as a whole to achieve far
more than from independent work. High performance teams:

- Share a clear picture of what is to be achieved
- Pull together to achieve the desired results
- Jointly feel responsible for what is achieved

When team members jointly feel responsible for what is achieved they are happy and
will be more likely to help each other and achieve their next team goal.

Skills as a team member

Clarifying objectives and agreeing tasks

If a team is to be successful, then team members need to be aware of what the team is
trying to achieve. When a team member can’t do this and can’t clarify what the
objectives and the agreed on tasks are it will lead into disagreement and frustration.
When team members have clarified their objectives they must identify what the tasks are
they have to complete; they should do this to make sure they will achieve their goal.

Valuing people

The people who make the teams need to want to be part of it too. They also need to
show them respect and value the other team members of their team. By encouraging
and respecting their contribution you are most likely to make others feel valued and
encourage them to make important contributions. You can show that you value people
by:

- Listening to their ideas
- Encouraging them to voice their views
- Praising their efforts

Being receptive to feedback

Other people might see things about you that you are not able to see yourself.
Sometimes they will see a weakness in the approach you use or the way you make
suggestions. If you want to improve yourself it might be smart to listen to the feedback
people give you.
