Basic concepts of performance appraisal
Learning Outcomes:
✓ Differentiate (start with definitions, indicate also similarities and differences)
between performance appraisal and performance management. ✓ Illustrate (be
able to draw) and discuss (briefly each step & examples) the model of the
organizational performance management cycle

performance criteria. ✓ Distinguish (identify, discuss, examples to demonstrate
understanding) between the different performance appraisal objectives.

✓ Identify (identify, briefly discuss with an example for each one) the possible
sources of ineffective performance – Table 9.1 & own research. ✓ Lastly the
description/similarities/differences (see- 1 st outcome above) of the SABPP and Wärnich,
et, al. (2020) definitions
