Workplace Leadership Assessment
Workplace civility refers to how employees interact respectfully and courteously with their colleagues (Clark & Walsh, 2016). It encompasses treating others with dignity, appreciating their contributions, and refraining from any behavior that others could interpret as discourteous, aggressive, or disrespectful. The current state of the healthcare industry presents several challenges. Some of the specific challenges faced by the healthcare industry include rising healthcare costs, an aging population, increasing chronic diseases, and a shortage of healthcare professionals. These challenges require innovative solutions and coordinated efforts to ensure accessible, quality healthcare. Dealing with such challenges in emotionally strenuous environments creates stress. According to the American Nurses Association and the Joint Commission, incivility and harassment are unprecedented in the medical industry (Atashzadeh‐Shoorideh et al., 2021). Coordinated efforts among healthcare stakeholders are essential for addressing these challenges.
