PSY 250 Final, Person Situation
Interactions
Within this paper, I’m going to look at Maslow’s hierarchy theory and compare it to that of
Roger’s person-centered approach. Next, I will explain how these methods contribute to
personality development and the needs of our growth patterns as to how we form our character.
Lastly, I will discuss which theory of the two that I can relate to and how I feel that it impacts my
life.
Comparison
Rogers and Maslow both had the belief of the humanistic approach to our personalities.
The humanistic way to deal with identity trusts that we have through and through freedom, or the
ability to control and additionally change our surroundings by being responsible for our own
behaviors and responses. This is because we are the ones whom control our destiny. Personality
growth is an essential part of what it means to be human. Admin (2014) states “However, the
difference between the two psychologists can be identified in their theories of self-actualization”
(para, 5). I believe that if we all just take a moment to think about this, we will see the truth in
these opinions.
