Below is the recipe that Nomzamo, a Gr.12 learner at Gauteng Girls’ High will use to
bake cupcakes for her 2014 matric dance fundraiser.




1.1.1 Calculate in Kg’s the mass of the butter needed for this recipe. (2)
1.1.2 Write the ratio of the weight in grams of castor sugar to self – raising
flour in simplest form. (3)


1.1.3 The recipe advises that the cupcakes should bake for a maximum of
15 minutes. I Nomzamo places the first batch in at 09:10, and she will
have seven batches in total, when will the last batch be coming out of the
oven? (2)

1.1.4) Convert the conventional oven recommended temperature of 180 ° Celsius

to degrees Fahrenheit. (2)

1.1.5) How many millilitres of Vanilla Essence will Nomzamo use if she makes
