Example exam questions:
Compare the two paths of co-evolution from Hockerts and Veleva.
Hockerts focuses more on how greening goliaths and emerging Davids come together
through venture capital from Goliaths or how Davids grow into a Goliath (they are seen more
as competitors), while Veleva delves more into how Goliaths can identify Davids as strategic
partners who can help in developing a more sustainable supply chain.

What is the difference between discovery and creation opportunities?
Creation opportunities arise endogenously through the structural agency of entrepreneurs
who have to create incentives while discovery opportunities arise exogenously and the
incentives are already in place but have to be discovered by an entrepreneur.

Why does effectuation fit with the blended founder identity?
The blended founder identity fits in with two core principles of effectuation:
bird-in-hand principle is the basis for initiating the business – who I am
crazy guilt principle of which self-selection is an example – don’t seek out stakeholders for
own set goals, co-create goals with all stakeholders that want to join

What is the difference between a blended identity and a hybrid identity?
These are all hybrid, as all three of them have both economic and ecological goals. In
commercial dominance, the focus is on commercial goals, in ecological dominance, the focus
is on ecological goals, and in blended, commercial & ecological goals are equally important
in order to address all stakeholders.

Consider the principle worthy contribution and decide which cell of the TBLBMC has
the most influence on this and why?
Governance has the most influence because that decides which stakeholders receive the
most social/environmental/financial returns. This way, stakeholders can be rewarded on the
basis of worthiness.

What is the difference between the paper of Hockerts and the paper by Kiewitz
regarding how small companies can increase impact?
IT IS NOT ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ENTREPRENEURIAL FIRMS AND
LARGE EXISTING COMPANIES (David vs Goliath), it is about small/medium enterprises
actively changing behavior to enhance sustainability impact

What is the difference between decoupling and attention deflection?
In essence, the difference between decoupling and deceptive manipulation is that decoupling
is often about creating the appearance of environmental friendliness without actually
changing anything about the business operations, while deceptive manipulation is about
actively misleading consumers or stakeholders about the impact of a product or service

How does deceptive manipulation differ from the two existing types of greenwashing?
The two traditional types follow the generic communication process, but DM follows the CCO
process: description turns into prescription / talk can influence action. Fraud is committed for
the sake of CSR.

How does COO differs from the traditional communication model?
Communication goes in one direction, so talk cannot influence action. It only describes the
reality and is more static. (CCO = dynamic because it changes the organization)
