Vaccination in the NB of Hepatitis B 24 Hrs after birth Mandated compulsory immunization against Hepatitis B for infants and children below 8 years old. Given at Birth R.A. 10152 ○ Mandatory Infants and Children Health Immunization Act of 2011 BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin) ○ Caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis ○ Bacteria attacks the lungs ○ Some people infected with TB may be asymptomatic ○ Spreaded by an infected TB person coughs or sneezes and another individual inhales the droplets Vaccine (BCG) BCG Normal Course ○ Wheal formation that disappears after 30 minutes. ○ A small red tender swelling at the injection site after 2 weeks. This develops into a small abscess, which ulcerates. ○ The ulcer heals by itself and leaves a scar. The course from the vaccination to the formation of the scar takes about 12 weeks HEPATITIS B ○ Caused by the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) ○ Spread by blood, semen, or other body fluids from an infected person enters the body of another non-infected individual ○ Can be passed from infected mother to child, sexual contact, and blood contact ○ Vaccine = Hepatitis B Vaccine DPT-HepB-Hib Vaccine (Pentavalent Vaccine)
