Lawyers owe few obligations to their profession that is enshrined in their Codes of Conduct. For solicitors, the SRA Code of conduct 2011 lay down principles to act with integrity, not to allow their independence to be compromised and to maintain trust of their clients on them and their profession. Similarly for barristers, the BSB Code of Conduct 2015 states that clients’ trust and confidence in them is based on their behaviour and that they must act with honesty, maintain independence and not diminish their clients’ trusts.
