He plays football in Kent youth league where he is a cam (centre attacking midfielder). He has been playing for 8 years and has grown especially good with set pieces being the team's first choice free kick and corner taker. He has a muscular build, but his lower body is weaker than most and he is lazy when tackling which leads to mistakes and in the worst-case fouls. He trains twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays with league matches on Saturday and the occasional cup match on Sunday. Each match Is 90 minutes 45 minutes per half this being extended by 30 minutes on cup games. My athlete takes part in continuous training to increase his endurance so he can play the full 90 mins without obtaining any fatigue which is key for his position as he will have most of the possession of the ball during games. Fartlek training is also recommended. In football there is a lot of shoulder-to-shoulder contact with slide tackles being common along with barging being normal for players. Strength training would be key for my athlete to minimise the chances of injury. There are rules that protect players from any severe injuries but are not always stopped. Recovery periods are essential to my athlete because they ensure fatigue will not be carried on from earlier training sessions or matches players have rest periods before and after matches to ready them for the next session.
