Landscape is passing into language

While the natural landscape has disappeared, it is
remembered in the language of “Groenvlei”, but also in the
telling of it, as in this poem, or perhaps in the way old people
reminisce.
The poet
Gabeba Baderoon (South Africa) wass born in PE (port Elizabeth)
in 1969 and grew up in Cape Town. She has studied at various
universities studying literature with the focus on images of Isalm
and creative writing.
Summary
This poet is about going to childhood home, in an urban area
Setting: Cape Town which was once “wild”. The question is does the poet find the
changes good or does the regret the changes.
