1. Comparative education is a field of study that involves the comparison of
educational systems, practices, and policies from different countries in order to gain
a better understanding of various educational processes and outcomes. It aims to
identify commonalities and differences between educational systems and to use this
knowledge to improve educational practices and policies.



2. The historical evolution of the field of comparative and international education can
be divided into four phases:

- The pre-World War II phase, where early comparative education focused on the
international diffusion of educational practices and the study of educational systems
in colonial contexts.

- The post-World War II phase, which saw a shift towards a more scientific and
systematic approach to comparative education, with an emphasis on the role of
education in promoting social and economic development.
