NR_599 WEEK 7 DISCUSION 2: POST tanic self assessment and reflection post (2 different approach) LATEST UPDATE PLUS REFERENCES In the week 2 Pre-TANIC Self-Assessment I perceived my competency level to be mid-expert level competency. I feel as though my competency level has increased slightly from that in week two with the Post-TANIC Self- Assessment. This class has taught meso many new things and it will be applied to my nurse practitioner practice in the future.I’ve learned about so many different technological systems that can support nurse practitioners in their practice. Before this class, I had never heard of clinical decision support systems or clinical information management. My areas of weakness include security, where potential viruses and spyware can affect my practice. I feel that this class has taught me so much that can be applied to my practice in the future as an advanced practice nurse. Computer literacy is one of the competencies that will benefit my future role as an APN.As we continue to grow with modernizing healthcare, everything is being changed to electronic. I am more than likely going to be working with electronic health records and that requires basic computer literacy. For example, in the facility, I currently work at we use Cerner. Computer literacy is one of the areas where I feel competent. The other literacy that will benefit my role as an APN is information literacy. Information literacy requires the provider or nurse to be able to use digital technology to retrieve information. Research has shown that information literacy competency positively influences and increases critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and self- directed learning.
