The extended survey includes the following: - The review of a larger sample of resident assessments - The review of staffing & in-service training - Surveyors to examine consultant contracts, if appropriate - The review of policies & procedures related to the noncompliance - Review of nursing services, physician services, administration, & any other requirements - Other requirements may also be reviewed at the discretion of the survey team. - A federal survey conducted within 14 days of a finding of substandard care during a standard federal survey EXTENDED SURVEY- Part 2 The extended survey should be conducted as follows: PRIOR to the exit conference (of the standard survey or revisit) OR No later than 14 days after the completion of a standard survey if the survey team is unable to conduct the extended survey concurrently with the standard survey Advise the facility's administrator that there will be an extended survey conducted, and an exit conference will then be held at the completion of the survey.
