Task M1
In this assignment I will be explaining how to solve problems in the internet use for four
different types of business activities. These would include: business research, business
communication, procurement and promotion.
Business research:
Businesses try to improve there performance by using the internet to carry out business
research. They can gather information of other competitors and go onto comparison
sites to view there pricing strategy. This allows them to make improvements and
changes so the company can do better.
Problem: (accuracy of the source) the main problem of going online to research about
other businesses is that the information given may be false. If you click onto comparison
sites the data there may need to be updated therefore the page will be full of
misconceptions of prices. In addition it is time consuming to check the prices on every
item of the company.
Solution: in stead of going onto comparison sites to gather the information for business
research it would be wiser for companies to click on the main homepages of the
company they are looking at. This is because the competing company will always update
their homepage for offers and sales for the customers. Therefore I think it is better for
companies to check out the official web pages and not comparison sites. They should be
more analytical when selecting which web link they are looking at.
Business communication:
The internet is a very useful way to communicate. Businesses take full advantage of that.
They are able to contact people from wherever the distance. They can communicate
with their employee’s managers and customer through this. It is a very effective and fast
way to communicate. Majority of businesses rely on the internet to communicate with
other companies and investment mangers etc.
Problem: there are many problems caused by business communication online. If
business are sending important documents to other companies they may not be able to
receive it due to failure of sending, e-mail not opening etc. Also when promoting new
offers or sales to customers business may e-mail them to inform them of the special deal
however due to the lengthy wording and paragraph the customers may not want to read
it and even if they do they might not understand it and can not directly ask them
questions. Therefore it is more appropriate to have verbal communication for both
situations.
Solution: instead of e-mailing there customers I think that it will be better to
electronically get through to them. They can send them messages/text via mobile
phones to arrange a time to talk to them on the phone about the new product. In
addition I think that if businesses want to communicate via using the internet they
should use programs like msn as it allows you to use webcams to see each others facial
