In this assignment, I shall prepare an informaton pack in which you describe how the internet is
used by selected contrastng businesses, highlightng clearly what they use the internet for.
Use of the Internet
Procurement:
Procurement generally involves making buying decisions under conditons of scarcity. If good data is
available, it is good practce to make use of economic analysis methods such as cost-beneft analysis
or cost-utlity analysis. Furthermore, it’s usually for businesses that seek to make proft procure’
things they need to achieve and pursue their actvites such as, buying fnished products to resell in
their store.
Research:
Research and experimental development is formal work undertaken systematcally to increase the
stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humanity, culture and society. Businesses need to be
aware of the things that happen around them, use their intelligence to spot things out. However,
they would need to be compettve in their market, so therefore, they can research about their
compettors.
Online Sales:
A type of industry where buying and selling of product or service is conducted over electronic
systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. Businesses would need the internet to
operate online. Businesses have added an online sales channel to their existng business, so
customers can do home shopping.
Customer Service:
Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and afer a purchase.
Businesses use the internet for a quicker way to respond to customer needs or enquiries. They have
to meet every requirement of every single customer. For satsfed customers, they have to ofer a
good service which the business would compete beter with other businesses.
Promotion:
Promoton is one of the market mix elements, and a term used frequently in marketng. These
elements are personal selling, advertsing, sales promoton, direct marketng, and publicity.
Businesses has spent a lot on the internet for advertsing such as, banner ads and pop ups.
