In this assignment I will explain which performance indicators employers can use to show how an
employee’s performance can be raised through performance management.
Different performance indicators are used to manage experienced nurses and cleaners. Experienced
nurses may be judge on examinaton pass rates and cleaners on having the health and safety award
in Newham general hospital. However, the might both have punctuality and atendance monitored
as these are basic requisites for working satsfactorily in both occupatons, failed to do so by both
occupatons will result in warnings.
Measuring and managing employee’s performance is effectve as this will affect the overall
business. If employees aren’t doing as well as they can, then this will affect the business. The HR
team are in charge of managing the employees in the business. In additon to this, if an employee
isn’t meetng their deadlines then they will be informed by the HR team and would be given a
warning.

doing within the business. Employee performance cam also relate to how effectvely a company uses
their resources.

for the organisaton. An engaged employee would take pride in their job and shows loyalty towards
their work, for instance, a nurse is dedicated to their work, they go the extra mile, partcularly in
customer service. The way to manage performance should be fair to all staff and decisions should
be based on merit, managers must not discriminate against employees in the way they manage
performance.
All managers with responsibilites for performance management must receive training to help them
manage performance effectvely. This should include informaton on the objectves of performance
management, how it will operate and what their role will be. Employees will also need training in
how to set their objectves and training in other aspects of the system. In every business, the
manager’s responsibility is to insure that the employees have training before startng the actual job.
In this case, the managers in Newham General Hospital give training to the starter nurses, they give
them a tour of the place and introduce them to the staff to become a new member of the team.
