In this task I will explain how diferent measurements are used by employers to see how workers are
performing.
Employee performance
Employee performance is a performance criteria standard of an employee, they must have good
behavior and mustn’t do anything bad like waste tme. Employees are rated on how well they do
their jobs compared with a set of standards determined by the employer. Employees need to be on
tme and ready to start work, they should always look presentable. Allso, employee performance is a
process for establishing a shared workforce understanding about what is to be achieved at an
organisaton level. It is about aligning the organisatonal objectves with the employees' agreed
measures, skills, competency requirements, development plans and the delivery of results. The
emphasis is on improvement, learning and development in order to achieve the overall business
strategy and to create a high performance workforce.
Measuring performance
Measuring performance means when a business will measure the quality of the actvites that are
passing and the quality of the services provided to the customers by employees. It involves creatng
a simple, but efectve, system for determining whether organizatons meet objectves. It’s also a
process of collectng and reportng informaton regarding the performance of an individual, group or
organizatons. It can involve looking at process/strategies in place, as well as whether outcomes are
in line with what was intended or should have been achieved. Performance indicators- businesses
have diferent ways to measure employee performance, e.g. a business will measure how much
customers/client have been served during a specifc tme, how many services they have ofered, or
how many sales they have made. Having measurements like this will allow managers to compare
employees. Newham general hospital don’t really compare each of their employee but on working
days every employee will have to have served and helped a patent, they will just have a record of
how much services they provide patents with each employee makes during their working hours, the
more they provide their services they make themselves the more beter their wage will be, also
when the employee makes each service their name will be recorded into the system, the positve
point for this is that the managers can see you are hardworking. This will lead to the employee
getting rewarded by the managersn this motvates the employee to work even harder.
Goal theory- is the practce of setting goals for employees to achieve. The best sets of goals are
produced when the employer and employee work.
Smart targets for employees
Employees are set smart targets to achieve their goals efectvely. This means that the employee
would have a target set out for them to accomplish. This makes the employee work harder to
achieve what they need to get. If they achieve the goal efectvely then this means that they will get
rewarded from their managers which would motvate them to work even harder. In additon to this,
smart targets are set there to show the managers which employees are working hard to achieve
their goals and which employees are not trying hard enough. Aln example of a smart target that
could be set out to an employee in Newham general hospital would be becoming more independent
