Unlicensed supportive personnel can help tx being provided BY LICENSED PT or PTA. Only can perform such acts under DIRECT supervision of PT or PTA. "Physical therapy practitioner" licensed in accordance c provisions of this chapter PT or PTA Direct supervision FL licensed PT (except in emergency) present for consultation & direction of actions of PT or PTA who's practicing under TEMPORARY permit & who's a candidate for licensure by examination. What if the pt's condition is found to be outside the scope of physical therapy refer the patient to or consult with a practitioner of record If PT tx is req'd beyond 30 days for condition NOT previously assessed by a practitioner of record, the PT shall have practitioner of record review & sign POC. Requirement that PT have practitioner of record review & sign POC does NOT apply when: 1. Pt has been physically examined by physician licensed in another state 2. Pt has been dx'd by physician as having condition for which PT is required, & PT is txing condition. The practice of PT does NOT authorize a PT to practice chiropractic medicine as defined in chapter 460, including specific spinal manipulation. For the performance of specific chiropractic spinal manipulation, a physical therapist shall refer the patient to a health care practitioner licensed under chapter 460. 5 board members: -Licensed PT -Residents of FL -Engaged in PT practice at least 4y 1 may be full-time faculty member teaching in PT curriculum in FL. The 2 remaining members shall be residents in FL who have never been licensed health care practitioners. PT licensing requirements - >/= 18yo - Good moral character - Graduated from PT school - Received diploma from PT program in foreign country & have educational credentials deemed equivalent to those required for educational preparation of PTs in US - Be entitled to licensure w/o examination PT application for license fee - Apply to dep't on their form - Have all qualifications preliminary to exam - Pay fee (</= $100) PT issuance of temporary permit requirements: (Not renewable; valid until license is granted by board. Void if permittee doesn't pass national exam approved by board w/i 6 mon after graduation from PT training program.) - Complete application for temp permit - Grad of US PT program - Proof of malpractice insurance - Doc proof you'll practice under DIRECT supervision of licensed PT - Supervising PT can only supervise 1 permittee at a time. Supervising PT must be licensed for min of 6 mon before supervision period begins; & must COSIGN all pt records produced by temp permit PT. PT license without examination to person passing examination of another authorized examining board + fee. - Evidence satisfactory to board of having passed American Registry Examination prior to 1971 - or an exam in PT before ~ lawfully authorized exam board of another state - Application for licensure w/o examination & pay </= $175 to board PT renewal of license - Renewal application - Fee - Biennial (every other year) renewal PT Reactivation status - Application to dep't - Con ed req's for react license can not be >10 class hrs/each year license inactive. - Renewal fee - Actively engaged in PT; good standing in another state for 4 years immed preceding filing of application for reactivation OR - Makes application for & passes exam + fee left off on page 11-31 Reinstatement of License When suspended/restricted license, licensee may petition Board for reinstatement/removal of restrictions. Must have complied c all terms & conditions of final order & the licensee possesses ability to safely practice PT Reinstatement of License - Completion of ____________ req'd by final order - Submit of evals of mental &/or physical exams that attest to licensee's ability to safely engage in practice, or conditions under which safe practice can be attained. (c) Compliance with prescribed treatment within a program designed to alleviate alcohol, drug, or other chemical dependencies, including necessary aftercare measures or a plan for continuation of such treatment as appropriate. (d) If action was taken against the license based on conviction or being found guilty of, or entry of a plea of nolo contendere to, a crime, proof that all criminal sanctions imposed by the court have been satisfied. (e) If discipline was imposed against a Florida license based on action taken against the license or authority to practice by the licensing authority of another jurisdiction, proof that the licensee has satisfied all terms and conditions impo - Con ed courses
