Phases of the Moon
New Moon - You can't see the moon because it is between the Earth and the Sun. This is also the first phase of the moon. Waxing Crescent - A phase of the moon coming after a new moon and before a 1st quarter moon that is a lit up crescent on the right. First Quarter Moon - The moon's phase in which the moon appears as a half circle. The right half of the moon is visible as it grows toward a full moon. Waxing Gibbous - More than half is lit or illuminated and increasing on the right side. Occurs right before the full moon. Full Moon - Occurs when ALL of the Moon's surface facing Earth reflects light. Waning Gibbous - More than half of the left side of the moon is illuminated. Third Quarter - A phase of the moon in which the left half of the moon is illuminated. Waning Crescent - Moon phase in which less than half of the moon is lit up on the left side. revolution - A single orbit of a planet around sun. rotation - a single complete turn on axis
