Task 1
Unit 5 – Providing Support & for Individuals in the Community
Ultimately it is important to approach certain individuals with care and sympathy as
you may not know all of their problems, this will help the pupil to open up to you and
have less chance of receiving discrimination for various reasons.

Throughout the three cases, the Equality act 2010 applies to each one of the
individuals as they should be offered all of the possibilities in regards to supporting
anti-discriminatory behaviour as well as encouraging equality throughout their
development. In result to this it can benefit all of the three individuals as this law
protects their rights and can ensure all safety and precautions being taken in order
for their treatment to be successful. (The UK Gov.,2010)

As for Nusrat, the Equality Act 2010 can be applied to her as this can provide safety
for her and ensure she gains all of the access to all opportunities being offered by
the community centre alongside any additional support so that she can experience
social activities.

As for Alice, the Equality Act 2010 can be applied to her as she would need support
with ending her alcohol intake and minimising any health risks, by providing her with
the right attitude and opportunities this can make her feel more included in social

should have been implied in the problem that he was not allowed to participate in the
carpentry class. This can affect the way he feels such as losing confidence due to
not being included in the different social activities.

life and help them as well as advise them wherever you feel comfortable and
confident in.

During Nusrats’ case, the GP, alongside the nurse and the people at the community
centre have promoted equality and diversity by introducing her to different people
with different problems, therefore she is able to improve her knowledge on different
types of individuals. Alongside, professionals such as the team members at the
community centre and the G.P have promoted the skills and attributes throughout
the different choices they have given Nusrat to work with, such as Makaton sheets, a
volunteer and graphic facilitator. As a result, Nusrat can become more independent
and can build her trust with different types of people around her such as the
volunteers and the nurse specialist in epilepsy as well as other services. Skills and
