He complained about feeling fatigue, an increase in urination, thirst, and an increase in weight. He also presents with the complaint of being anxious and increasing anxiety and thinks the medication is not helping with his problems. He does not check his blood pressure and blood sugar regularly. Now both his blood sugar and blood pressure have been elevated. I prescribed him the combination drug of glipizide and metformin to better treat his blood sugar. I also gave him lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide daily to properly manage his blood pressure. I gave him teaching regarding medication dosage, the importance of monitoring the BP and blood sugar regularly, the importance of diet control, and avoiding alcohol. The concept lab was very informative and explained the medications very well. It also shows how different medications act on various body systems. With those information’s I was able to learn and apply this while prescribing the patient medication. I was also able to identify the patient financial status and prescribe cost-effective medication.
