V by Tony Harrison (poetry annotations)
This document shows my annotations for V by Tony Harrison. This poem is apart of the Tony Harrison Selection in the AQA Poetry Anthology for English Literature B. This would also be on Paper 2 English Literature for the Political and Social protest category of poetry of the exam. In this poem, there are lots of profanities and slurs (so beware before reading if you have never read it) to be able to highlight the skin heads behaviour in Leeds. But it also shows how society was in 1980s (when the poem was written). The annotations that I made are colour coordinated to each lines and quote for it. This is the way that I understand my annotations and hopefully it will help as well. On the last page of the document, this is from the video of Tony Harrison speaking about his poem on the radio (Channel 4 and the BBC ). The video contains Harrison speaking on his poem, him reading it and people's reactions and interpretations on the poem.
