The reason for why the public service has equality and diversity policies is because of many
different reasons. The main reason for why the public services have equality and diversity
policies is because they want to raise awareness and reduce the issues about people being
different but make everyone feel equality to one another no matter. The service realise that
everyone is unique in their own way. The public services will not discriminate anyone due to
their gender, religion, race or civil partnerships. The public service believes that this doesn’t
affect anything to do with peoples work.
There are 5 main policies and procedures that are used within the public services to make
the work force effective and professional.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
The reason for why equal opportunities is a policies and procedures within the public
services is because it allows everyone to be treated like everyone else without people having
more power or pay because they are liked more etc. With the equal opportunities policy,
everyone is equal to each other and more people are respectful to the people around them.
This will decrease the rate of discrimination in the public services. This is an important policy
to have in a working environment. I believe this because everyone will be having the same
opportunities without anyone being biased which will make a diverse workforce. If this
policy wasn’t introduced into the services, there would be a lot of biased decisions as not
everyone wouldn’t be treated equally to each other.
GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES
Grievance procedures are in place to allow personnel to report any issues they might have in
the working environment. The grievance procedures will have a process they follow to stop
whatever the issue might be. The issues could be that personnel feel like they aren’t being
treated fairly. This is important policy. I believe this because it allows individuals who are in
the services to report any issues they might have. The services will react in an effective
manor and stopping this issue before it starts to get a bigger problem. Another reason why I
think this is important is because it will make a better diverse workforce as personnel know
they have somewhere to go if they feel like they are being treatment badly.
BULLY AND HARASSMENT AT WORK POLICIES
This is a very important policy and procedure to have within a working environment I think.
With this policy it makes sure that there is no bullying or harassment happening during the
working times. This will create a better working environment for everyone within the public
services. This is because people will feel a lot safer whilst working as the personnel working
