Also covers key writing techniques for an A* history essay. It’s the only thing I looked at before my AS History exam and it got me the highest band and an A* prediction in History.

o Time: ineffective before; effective after a distinct time (still with overall judgement)
o Aspects: effective in economics, ineffective in social

a. This is where your main argument goes—you are using rest of the essay to prove it, so

2. Argument For (x2)
3. Argument Against (x2/3)
a. Signpost: (causes) led to (the question/impact) because of (reason) must link your point+ impact + main question (+ rebuttal if needed)
b. Explanation (what is the vital point, originally (don’t be too limited by the question, can adequately mention, esp ‘change’ quesiton) is what,
change becuz of what, now what, its significance)
c. Evidence (where, when, who) as many as possile as long as suppport (show off)
d. Impact
e. Counter-counter: However, less crucial compared with xxx (make it clear in your signpost that you’re gonna rebutt it)

a. Overall judgement (not just I agree/ disagree. To what extent)
b. Restate for and against with evaluation
