It declared that the 41 males who signed it agreed to accept majority rule and participate in a government in the best interest of all members of the colony. This agreement set the precedent for later documents outlining commonwealth rule. Middle Passage Part of the Triangle Trade Africans were transported to the Americas, where they were traded for sugar and tobacco. Triangular Trade Merchants traded colonist rum for African slaves, African slaves for West Indies sugar cane, and sugar cane needed to make rum to the colonies.
