Multi case study
You are a classroom teacher and have just been assigned to Sarai Primary School. There are 35
children in the class. The school principal introduces you to the class and you discover that there
is:
one visually-impaired pupil named Merelesita,
another student, Veresa who is hearing-impaired,
one pupil named Viliamu who has what seems to be numerous burns and bruises on his
skin, and,
another pupil named Daisy, who has an enormous amount of energy and who either fidget
in her seat, walks in and out of the classroom and runs around the classroom and the
schoolyard whenever she wants.
i. Define ‘exclusion’ and explain how exclusion affects learners.
ii. Discuss the ways in which these children and others who exhibit similar behaviours, are
often excluded in the classroom.
iii. Identify the teaching strategies that could be used to ensure that all students in your class
are included, in a manner that allows them all to learn.
The essay must have an introduction, body, conclusion and references. You are required to use
the APA referencing style. The assignment will be marked according to the marking rubric
provided in your I & A.
