NSTRUCTIONS In this assignment, you need to discuss the ideas you obtained from your readings with your group members. Submit your assignment 1 as indicated in lesson 1. Please do not attach any document when posting this assignment because other students may not be able to see the attached document and will not be able to comment on your post. Your response to both questions should be about 300 words. In addition to your post, you need to also respond comprehensively and respectfully to at least three (3) other students’ posts. Do not simply write agree or disagree. Give reasons why you agree or disagree as this will count as the interaction in the discussion. Simply writing I AGREE/DISAGREE will not give you a mark. REMEMBER PLAGIARISM IS NOT ALLOWED. YOUR ASSIGNMENT STARTS HERE: Grandmother Mabatho is a former primary school teacher who founded Bokamoso primary school in Bopedi. The school was known for its strict discipline, high academic standards, and its ability to help learners who were struggling in public schools. Granny Mabatho journey as a teacher started in 1960 when she was assigned to teach at a public school in her home village. At that time the school was plagued by lack of physical resources and many of the learners came from very poor families. Despite these challenges granny Mabatho was determined to make a difference. She believed that every learner had the potential to learn and succeed, and she set out to create a classroom environment that would foster a love of learning, a sense of discipline and a belief in oneself. One of granny Mabatho first initiatives was to establish a rigorous curriculum that would challenge her learners to reach their full potential. She taught her learners subjects like mathematics, natural science and home language, but also emphasized critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity. Granny Mabatho’s teaching methods were highly effective, and her learners soon began to show remarkable progress. They scored well above average on standardized tests, and many of them went on to attend top universities. But granny Mabatho’s greatest achievement was the founding of Bokamoso primary school which she started in 1975. The school was designed to be a haven for learning, providing a safe and nurturing environment where learners could thrive academically and socially. Granny Mabatho emphasised the importance of discipline and hard work. She expected her learners to arrive on time, in uniform and ready to learn. She also instilled a sense of responsibility and accountability. Granny Mabatho emphasised the importance of building relationships between teachers and learners. She believed that strong relationships were the foundation of effective teaching and encouraged her teachers to get to know their learners as individuals and personalise their instructions accordingly. Under granny Mabatho’s leadership, Bokamoso Primary school became known for its high academic standards and its ability to help learners who had struggled in public schools. Many of the learners from Bokamoso primary school went on to attend top universities and some went to become leaders in their fields. Granny Mabatho’s impact on education was recognised by teachers around the world and she was invited to speak at conferences and events all over the world. She was also the author of several books. Today granny Mabatho’s legacy lives on through the many learners and teachers who are inspired by her work. Her emphasis on discipline, hard work and relationships continues to be a model for effective teaching, and her belief in the potential of every learner continue to inspire teachers to make a difference in the lives of learners who would not had made in school. 1.
