Grantia Motility - Sessile - but its larva and sperm move Grantia Adaptations - -Flagellated cells - draw water in to spongocoel - allow nutrition to be obtained -Stalk - attaches it so it doesn't float away-spicules - act as a threat - indigestible Grantia Reproduction - Hermaphroditic: -Sexual - releases sperm into seawater which swim to the egg within other sponges for fertilization. Resulting zygote grows into an embryo within the parent sponge. The embryo develops into a flagellated larva which emerges into the spongocoel and swims out of the osculum.
