Afghanistan

Write a narrative account analysing the key
events of the Soviet Invasion of
Afghanistan.
Russian communists had invaded Afghanistan
and had taken control of it. The Russian control
was extremely unpopular amongst the Afghan
people as majority of them were Muslim and
Communism didn’t agree with religion. They
restricted religious freedoms and tried to get rid
of the vast number of Muslim believers as the
USSR felt threatened by their rising Muslim
population. 1000s of Muslim leaders were
imprisoned and many were executed, some
resulted to fleeing to the mountains to escape this
brutal treatment. This led to the formation of the
Mujahideen.
