Summary COMPRESSIBLE FLUID FLOW - OBLIQUE SHOCK AND EXPANSION WAVES
This report elaborates on some applications of oblique shocks and expansion wave relations (shock expansion theory) to calculate the drag force on a diamond airfoil at different angles of attack and solve for the flow deflection angle at the tail of an infinitely thin plate. The report also shows a plot of flow deflection angle against shock angle using different supersonic Mach numbers. With the correct prediction of the shock patterns around a body, one can use these shock patterns to calculate for the flow properties such as static and total pressures at different sections of the body, and the first two examples employ a MATLAB code to demonstrate this ability.
