Question 4

In the context of business management by portfolio, business leadership is addressed in terms
of (i) ; (ii) and (iii) _.

1. (i) leadership styles; (ii) leadership practices, (iii) leadership perspectives
2. (i) leadership profiles; (ii) leadership styles; (iii) leadership practices
3. (i) leadership practices; (ii) leadership perspectives; (iii) management perspectives
4. (i) leadership styles; (ii) leadership profiles; (iii) leadership perspectives

The correct answer is Option 2.
Refer to section 2.2 of the prescribed textbook which deals with business leadership.

The simple definition of business management by portfolio is that:

 to lead, a leader needs followers
 a leader sets the direction and pace of movement for his followers
 a leader is not necessarily an individual; it can be a group, a project team, a business or even
a country

According to business management by portfolio, business leadership is addressed in terms of
leadership profiles, leadership styles and leadership practices.

Question 5
An individual’s ability to perceive, understand, manage, and use emotions to facilitate thinking is
illustrated by the model.

1. Bar-On
2. Kurt Lewin
3. Mayer-Salovey
4. Goleman

The correct answer is Option 3.
Refer to section 2.2.1 of the prescribed textbook and the subtopic “Emotional profile”, which is about
individuals’ ability to recognise their own and other people’s emotions.

The Mayer-Salovey model is one of three major intelligence models in the Encyclopedia of Applied
Psychology. It explains an individual’s ability to perceive, understand, manage and use emotions to
facilitate thinking.

Note that emotional intelligence is a key skill for business leaders, especially when they deal with
people under pressure or in stressful or uncomfortable situations.
