ASSIGNMENT 2
Basic Statistical Computing
QUESTION 1
(a) How many random variables are being studied in the questionnaire?
There are a total of 5 variables under section A (Demographics) and 2 variables under section B
(Usage levels). Therefore, the total number of random variables being studied is 5 + 2 = 7.
(b) For each variable being measured in the questionnaire from A1 to A5 and B1 to B2:
(i) Suggest the name of the variable,
(ii) Identify the data type of the random variable,
(iii) Identify the measurement scale of the variable being measured.
Variables under section A (Demographics):
A1:
(i) Name: Age
(ii) Data type: Discrete
(iii) Measurement scale: Ordinal (The categories have a meaningful order, but the intervals between
categories are not necessarily equal.)
