Abbe Faria - Dantes' neighbor in prison, teaches him, passes on the Spada family fortune to Dantes, dies in the Chateau d'If. the Englishman - the facade Dantes uses when visiting Morrel, head clerk at Thomas and French of Rome Italian Priest - the facade Dantes uses when visiting Caderousse Jacopo - A smuggler on the Jeune-Amelie, helps Dantes climb aboard the ship. when Jacopo proves his selfless loyalty, Dantès rewards him by buying the poor man his own ship and crew. Caderousse - A lazy, drunk, and greedy man, who at the very beginning of the novel is a friend of Dantes; knew about what Danglars and Fernand were doing, doesn't speak up, becomes the unfortunate innkeeper of a small inn, located in the South of France between Bellegarde and Beaucaire. has been the innkeeper for the past eight years, gives Dantes information for a diamond.
