Biographically-based research paper on Nat King Cole. Examine Nat King Cole using scholarly resources
Introduction For a gentle young man whose songs were always soothing to the ear, Nat King Cole became quite a symbol of considerable controversy throughout his 30 years of being a proficient musician. He became one of the most successful pop singers from the late '40s to mid-'60s (Johnson). In addition to that, he ranked with contemporaries such as Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin, who he shared with, a career that encompassed international touring, television shows, hit records, and appearances in films. But unlike all of them, he had not come from a background of band musicians. Instead, he had spent his earlier years as a celebrated jazz pianist who led a small group. He became a figure of controversy when he shifted from jazz to pop during a period in time when jazz was becoming less popular. Consequently, his actions were seen as an act of betrayal to the jazz community (Johnson). In essence, this paper aims to expound on Nat King Cole's life, given his success in the music industry. The literature materials provided below will include scholarly works that contain reliable information discussing the life of Nat King Cole and his rise in the music industry
