Research Methods
Key research concepts :
1. Validity - Qualitative, Interpretivists. Whether the results of the research are truthful
2. Reliability - Quantitative, Positivists. Whether the research method is repeatable
3. Representativeness - Measures Sample. Ensures results can be generalised
4. Generalisability - Can sample/results be used to represent a whole population, establish a pattern etc
Stages in research process :
1) Identify problem
2) Gather socio info/Lit review
3) Research hypothesis
4) Choose research method to collect data
5) Pilot study (sub-sample sample of sample, act as a warning system for problems, small-scale)
6) Collect data to test hypothesis
7) Analyse the data
8) Analyse conclusion/repeat
